The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has released the recruitment notification for Senior Residents, Junior/Senior Demonstrators and Senior Medical Officers at PGIMER Chandigarh and the PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur, Punjab. Eligible Indian nationals can apply online for these tenure-based positions for a maximum period of three years under Advertisement No. PGI/RC/056/2026/2690, dated 16 October 2026.

The recruitment includes 162 vacancies across PGIMER Chandigarh and the PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur.

Educational Qualification

Senior Residents: Candidates must possess the required recognized medical qualification, registration with the Central/State Medical Council, and a relevant postgraduate degree such as MD/MS in the concerned specialty. For dental Senior Resident posts, a recognized dental qualification, Dental Council registration and MDS in the relevant specialty are required.

Senior Medical Officer: MD/MS in Medicine or Surgery is required as specified in the notification.

Junior Demonstrators: Qualifications vary by department. Depending on the post, candidates may require MBBS with one year of experience, or an M.Sc./M.A./M.P.H. or other relevant postgraduate qualification. Certain departments require one year of experience.

Senior Demonstrators: Requirements vary by specialty and may include MD/MS, M.Sc. with Ph.D., or relevant postgraduate qualifications with a Ph.D. in the concerned or allied subject. Some medical posts also require registration with the relevant Medical Council.
