CPCB Recruitment 2026: Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, has invited online applications from eligible Indian Nationals for 51 contractual posts under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER)-Phase-III Project on River Ganga. The project is funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) under the Namami Gange Programme. The recruitment includes Scientist-D, Scientist-C, Scientist-B, Assistant Manager (Finance), Administrative Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Taxonomist, Data Entry Operator and Field Assistant posts.

The online application process will start on 24 August 2026 at 10:00 AM and the last date for submission is 07 September 2026 up to 11:59 PM. The engagements are initially for one year and may be extended depending on project requirements and candidate performance. These are purely contractual positions and do not confer any right to regularization or absorption in CPCB’s regular vacancies.

CPCB Recruitment 2026 Qualification

1. Scientist-D – 01 Post

Age Limit: Maximum 50 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science

OR

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in:
  • Environmental
  • Chemical
  • Civil
  • Energy and Environment
  • Biotechnology

Additional Requirement: Candidate must have either:

• Cumulative impact factor of total published papers in journals of at least 10, with papers considered from UGC Care List and Scopus-indexed journals; OR
• Minimum 5 books/edited book chapters published by national/international publishers having an established peer-review system and ISBN; OR
• Minimum 5 technical reports published by CPCB/SPCB.

Experience: Minimum 7 years relevant practical experience in prevention, control and abatement of river pollution, industrial pollution, sewage management or environmental management. Familiarity with environmental norms and data analytics is required.

2. Scientist-C – 08 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 45 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Energy and Environment or Biotechnology.

3. Scientist-B – 12 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science

OR

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Energy and Environment or Biotechnology.

Additional Requirement:

• Valid GATE score with 90% or above percentile

• NET-JRF qualified.

4. Assistant Manager (Finance) – 03 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Master’s Degree in Commerce with Finance & Accounting/Taxations

• Chartered Accountant

OR

• MBA in Finance & Accounting.

Experience: Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience in the relevant field.

5. Administrative Assistant – 01 Post

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent
• Working knowledge of computers.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in administration, preferably in Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies in the relevant area in ₹4200 Grade Pay or equivalent.
• Candidate must pass the skill test based on noting and drafting.

6. Scientific Assistant – 13 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science

OR

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Energy and Environment or Biotechnology.

Additional Requirement:

• Valid GATE score with 90% or above percentile

• NET-JRF qualified.

7. Taxonomist – 01 Post

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.

Essential Qualification:

• First Class M.Sc.

Desirable:

• Master’s Degree in Botany or Zoology with minimum 75% marks or equivalent.

Additional eligibility includes a valid GATE score with 90% or above percentile/NET-JRF qualification and either:

• Cumulative impact factor of published papers of at least 7 in eligible journals; or
• At least 1 book/edited book chapter published by an eligible national/international publisher with ISBN; or
• At least 1 technical report published by CPCB/SPCB.

8. Data Entry Operator – 04 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 32 years.

Educational Qualification:

• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Science/BCA.

Skill Test:

Candidates must pass the skill test in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with:

• English typing speed: 45 WPM
• Hindi typing speed: 35 WPM

The typing test will be conducted on computer.

9. Field Assistant – 08 Posts

Age Limit: Maximum 27 years.

Educational Qualification:

• Passed 10+2 in Science with minimum 55% marks.

Additional Requirement:

• Knowledge of water/wastewater sampling and sample preservation.

CPCB Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The maximum age varies according to the post: 50 years for Scientist-D, 45 years for Scientist-C, 35 years for Scientist-B/Assistant Manager/Administrative Assistant/Scientific Assistant/Taxonomist, 32 years for Data Entry Operator and 27 years for Field Assistant. Age, qualification and experience are reckoned as on the last date of application. The FAQ specifically states that no age relaxation is provided for weaker sections, in-service candidates or ex-servicemen.
