UPSC Recruitment 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Advertisement No. 11/2026 inviting online recruitment applications for various posts through direct recruitment by selection. The recruitment includes Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor, Assistant Editor, Specialist Grade-II, Assistant Public Prosecutor and Public Law Officer/District Litigation Officer/Law Officer posts.

A total of 212 vacancies are available under different Central Government departments, the Government of NCT of Delhi and the Administration of UT of Ladakh. Online applications will commence from 12 September 2026. The closing date is 2 October 2026 at 6:00 PM for posts other than Ladakh and 9 October 2026 at 6:00 PM for the Ladakh post.

UPSC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The upper age limit varies according to the post and reservation category:

  • Assistant Professor (Anatomy): 40 years for UR/EWS and 45 years for SC.
  • Assistant Professor (General Medicine): 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC and 45 years for SC/ST.
  • Assistant Editor: 30 years for UR and 35 years for SC.
  • Specialist Grade-II Anaesthesiology: 50 years for ST.
  • Specialist Grade-II Pediatrics: 45 years for EWS.
  • Assistant Public Prosecutor: 35 years for UR/EWS, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST.
  • Public Law Officer/District Litigation Officer/Law Officer: 40 years for ST.

PwBD candidates can receive age relaxation up to 10 years wherever applicable. The advertisement also specifies additional provisions for eligible contractual employees for the Assistant Public Prosecutor post.

UPSC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

UPSC will make the selection through its recruitment-by-selection process. Depending on the number of applications, the Commission may shortlist candidates on the basis of desirable qualifications, higher educational qualifications, higher relevant experience or other prescribed criteria. A Recruitment Test (RT) may also be conducted where required, followed by an interview.

Where an RT is conducted, candidates must meet the prescribed suitability level at both the Recruitment Test and interview stages. The final interview details will be communicated separately to shortlisted candidates.

UPSC requires candidates to upload supporting documents against the claims made in the application. The 10th certificate is specifically required as proof of date of birth, while degree/diploma and experience documents must support the educational and experience claims.

How to Apply for UPSC Recruitment 2026

Candidates have to submit their applications online through the UPSC recruitment portal. The portal uses Account Creation, Universal Registration (URN), Common Application Form (CAF) and the post/vacancy-specific application module. After registration, candidates receive a URN, while the application number is generated separately for each post/vacancy.

Candidates should carefully complete their profile, upload the photograph, capture the live photograph, upload the required signature and supporting certificates, pay the applicable fee and finally submit the application. After submission, candidates should retain a printout of the finally submitted application. No withdrawal or correction/modification is permitted after submission.

For the Ladakh post, candidates must additionally satisfy the prescribed Ladakh domicile requirement and possess a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority.
